I'm Anne,
When I was ten years old I won a blue ribbon for my art in a contest held in my hometown, Rome, Georgia. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be an artist.
When I got older, I attended the University of Georgia and studied art history. Georgia O’Keefe and Henri Rousseau heavily influenced my art education and I would like to think their influence can be seen in my art today.
I love the vibrant colors and large scale florals of Georgia O’Keefe. Henri Rousseau has been described as the “archetype of the modern naïve artist. My work has often been characterized as “Sophisticated Whimsey”. I can paint lush florals and all sorts of colorful animals but I cannot paint people. My “Deer Under Pine” limited edition print is actually a portrait of my two boys and daughter painted as deers.
